Perhaps it was her days as Gabriela on High School Musical, which I completely fascinated/obsessed/collected (aka lowkey stalked her every move on Seventeen and Teen Vogue) during my high school years (coincidentally I too was a wildcat by way of my high school). For all one knows it could be her post-Disney days as a bad ass Spring Breaker in the film Spring Breakers (points to you if you saw and loved that movie as much as I did) that ignited this fascination. Having said that, I got it! It all truly began when she became the queen of Coachella.

No, really. I look forward to Coachella for one thing and one thing only: Vanessa’s Coachella style. The best part of Coachella is Vanessa. Fuck-a-headliner. Vanessa is QUEEN. Just Google “Vanessa Hugdens Coachella Style” and you’ll get my drift. Besides her fashion, she’s totally been killing it in the hair department. Usually her hair is down in wavy locks and bangs, but her most recent hair-do takes her from bohemian to bohemian glam.

It may look totes complicated, but trust me it’s not. You’ll be incredibly surprised as to how EASY it is to recreate it without going to the salon.

Nearly dry, a little wet. Got 7-10 minutes? With a quarter (or nickle size for medium-short hair) amount of hair oil (or anit-freeze) keeps hair from frizzing. No hairspray or mousse is needed as long as you have hair oil on your mane. Everything is kept up and in place against with the use of bobby pins. Have about 10-15 bobby pins.

Part hair down the middle and move hair to the sides to commence braiding. Feel free to braid behind the ear or over the ear TIGHTLY (no loose braids or hair will get messy and feel heavy. You can always make it piece-y once you’re done with your fingers.). This is the other secret to the perfect milkmaid braid. Once that is done grab the ends of one braid and bring it over to the opposite ear and in a “X” shape place the bobby pins at the ends of the braid. Add another two in an “X” shape in the middle. Do the same to the other braid. Now, if you have loose hairs in the back or on the sides pin down as you see fit.
