Vanessa Hudgens är inte en mamma i det riktiga livet, men hon spelar en gravid tonåring i en film.

I “Gimme Shelter”, spelar “Spring Breakers”-stjärnan, Apple, en hemlös gravid 16-åring som söker hjälp på ett härbärge. Regisserad av Ron Krauss, och i filmen spelar Rosario Dawson Apples mamma och Brendan Fraser spelar hennes pappa, en rik affärsman på Wall Street som hon aldrig har träffat.

“Varje dag var definitivt en utmaning, men jag tog emot varje dag med öppna armar”, berättar Hudgens. “Det var verkligen spännande att pressa mig själv för att se hur långt jag kunde gå”.

“Den mest fysiska och känslomässiga scenen var förmodligen förlossningen”, berättar hon. “Jag har aldrig spelat in en förlossningscen och det slutade med att jag hade spruckna blodkärl i ansiktet”.

Hudgens kallar händelsen “surrealistisk”.

“Det är konstigt, det är det verkligen”, säger hon. “Jag menar, jag hade verkligen en känslomässig kontakt med mitt barn – mitt filmbarn – och jag hade bara så mycket kärlek för henne, men när de skrek “cut” och tog bort barnet så lämnades jag bara där”.

Hudgens gick upp drygt 6 kg för rollen och klippte även av sitt långa vackra hår.

“Jag och min hårstylist började klippa mitt hår och Ron kom in i rummet och sa ungefär ‘Det ser för stylat ut’ och så sa han att min karaktär klipper håret själv”, säger Hudgens. “Så jag sa ‘jag gör det själv’ så började jag att klippa och det var verkligen en befriande känsla”.

Att gå upp i vikt var inte speciellt svårt för Hudgens för hon kallar sig själv ett “matvrak”.

“Att bli av med kilona var betydligt svårare”, berättar Hudgens. “Det blev mycket träning…en del cardio, en del yoga och annat som gör att du är aktiv”.
